Comtesse and Son Killed by Train Near Le Mans
A motor car carrying Comtesse Antoine de Nicolai and her son Comte Christian de Nicolai was struck at a level crossing near Le Mans by the Paris express. The Comtesse died at the scene in evening dress. her son, 26, perished shortly after. A second car carrying Comte de Bouriat was ahead but escaped. The accident occurred as the car failed to clear the line while crossing Connerre. a sudden stop by the train followed.
