Fighting in Central Africa causes heavy French losses
Reports from Wedai province east of Lake Chad describe a fierce clash where French arms suffered serious losses. Under Colonel M it a column attacked by superior forces led by the Sultan of Masgalit and ex Sultan Wadai Dudinurab. The assault failed, leaving Sultan Tagaddi of Mussalit dead on the field. Dadmurah wounded. Among the dead were Colonel Mol Lieutenant Joly and Sergeant Bal with 43 men. One officer, three non commissioned officers, and 60 men were wounded.
