Early borehole imaging device described for geology
A brass water filled box with a suspended camera, magnetic needle, phosphorescent disc, and interchangeable lead disc forms a simple borehole imaging device. The apparatus records bottom strike orientation by projecting needle and marks onto a sensitized plate, enabling rock strata direction to be inferred after exposure and development.
