Brazilian Squadron Flies 345 Sorties In 1st Month

In its first 30 days in combat the 1st Brazilian Fighter Squadron flew 345 sorties and dropped over 75 tons of bombs in northern Italy. Flying P 47 Thunderbolts as part of the Tactical Air Force the Brazilians destroyed one enemy aircraft on the ground and damaged rail infrastructure including three bridges 12 rail cars nine motor vehicles and five railway stations. Ways were cut in two places and seven rail cuts effected while 112 rail cars ten motor vehicles seven locomotives and three buildings were damaged.

Slayer Sentenced in Florence for Manslaughter Robbery

Serzio Van zini was found guilty on manslaughter robbery and illegal possession of firearms after a month trial. He received a 27 year prison sentence for shooting and robbing an American soldier in Florence.
