RCMP ballistics expert to testify against Steve Suchan and Leonard Jackson in the fatal shooting of Toronto detective Eddie Tong. Crown attorney says the recovered bullet from Tong’s body was fired from Suchan’s Smith and Wesson .435 caliber revolver captured in Montreal last spring. Pathologist Dr. E C Fielden states Tong died from gunshot wounds and a pulmonary embolism after being wounded on a west central street. Tong died March 23, seventeen days after being shot. Montreal police identified Suchan as the shooter.

In Montreal police opened a homicide inquiry into the death of 50 year old Theodore Werner whose decomposed body was found at 1534 Shutt Street. An autopsy showed multiple skull fractures possibly from a beating or fall with a wood fragment near the body cited as a possible murder weapon. Werner was last seen July 26 and a friend alerted authorities yesterday.
About 80 percent of general contract work for the new public library addition is finished. Plumbing and electrical work awarded to Belfast and Dunn Electric for 1016 and 895 dollars respectively, with the addition costing an estimated 35,600 dollars and adding 3,100 feet of floor space.
