Grand Trunk train No. 16 derailed five miles west of Chatham as it traveled 45 miles an hour. A diner and day coach jumped the track and telescoped injuring nine, including Miss Lafferty of Chatham who may die. Injured were Mrs. Med Kentbridge, Mrs. Robert Coyle Chatham, Mr and Mrs Richardson Chatham, Miss J T Lewis Detroit, Miss Cox Toronto, Miss Costelo Toronto, M E H Gray Brantford. They were taken to Chatham Hospital. Conductor Higgins and Engineer Overend, both of Toronto, were in charge.
