Province cabinet to decide fate of Simpsons Sears Bay mall
The provincial cabinet will decide today on the city’s annexation of more than 200 acres including the 45 acre mall site. If approved, construction could start within 7 to 10 days with Hat Development handling a $16 million project on land between Dunmore Road and the Trans Canada Highway south of Southview mall. Building permits would follow annexation and tender deadlines were noon today. Mall opening postponed to November 1979 from August.
