Freezing Winds and Snow Touch Alta Saskatchewan

Winnipeg dispatch notes early snow across Alberta and Saskatchewan with an inch to nearly two inches in places. Widespread wind dusted the plains, many wires grounded, and rail and telegraph lines disrupted as Manitoba expected cooler weather and possible snow in coming days. Local relief came with blue skies in Medicine Hat while farmers hailed the moisture as a boost for next year’s crop.

Bomb Found Under Car Seat in Nebraska Stunt

A dynamite bomb wired to the seat plugs was found under Jay Wesso's car in Stunt Nebraska. It failed to explode due to improper grounding. A garage mechanic discovered two sticks of dynamite. Wesso had driven the car with the bomb present. He denied knowing anyone who wished him harm though a young woman reported an unsigned warning note.

Air Force maps and explores Northwest Territories flight

No. 2 General Purpose Department of the Royal Canadian Air Force planes arrived at Churchill after an 8,000 mile series of flights begun July 4. Pilots F L Mawdesley and H J Winny, with C S MacDonald, surveyed waterways and photographed fuel caches from Lac Du Bonnet to Aklavik, Chesterfield Inlet, and Hudson Bay, producing 2,800 photos for maps.

Food Control Over Birth Control Debate In Japan

Dr Yuzo Tobyama of the Tokyo Public Health Department argues food control is more vital than birth control in Japan today. He toured Winnipeg en route to New York to study American sanitation at the Rockefeller Institute. Red Band on Way to U S with Intent to Create Trouble

Report from San Francisco says a band of Russian Communists bound from China aboard an unnamed steamship aimed to cause trouble. Immigration and the coast guard boarded the vessel but failed to prevent entry. A Shanghai citizen letter warned of narcotics hidden aboard and a consignment on the same ship. Customs Collector M B Hamilton sought coast guard aid at the harbor gate.

Will Carry Anti- Toxin By Airplane

Alaska dispatch reports Pilot Frank Dorbandt will fly anti-toxin to Dillingham in Bristol Bay where a diphtheria outbreak is reported. He returns from Cane Serdge Siberia with a ship captain needing hospital care and will stop at Holycross to pick up Matt Vastghn for Anchorage hospital transport. The flight is planned to complete in one day.

Premier Bennett left Quebec aboard the Empress of Australia en route to the London Imperial Conference. He thanked supporters as thousands roared their cheers and sang O Canada while Bennett and his party waved from the gangway.

Motorist Is Hurled From Car Into Field

Akron Ohio September 23 a mysterious explosion in the automobile driven by Clarence R Barnes 43 Akron salesman fatally injures him. He borrowed the car from a roamer at his home and died on an operating table awaiting amputation of his left leg. His left foot was blown off as he was hurled about 40 feet into a nearby field.
