Pride festival celebrates diversity in Medicine Hat

The Medicine Hat Pride Association hosted the second annual Pride festival at Riverside Veterans' Memorial Park drawing about 1,100 attendees. The event featured belly dances and drag performances, vendors, and family activities with support from local groups including Medicine Hat College Students' Association and Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Association. Chelsea Joa praised the community support and turnout.

Two Canadians among Nairobi mall attack victims

The Canadian Press reports at least 68 people died in the Westgate mall siege in Nairobi. Among the dead were two Canadians, Vancouver businessman Naguib Damji and diplomat Annemarie Desloges of the Canadian embassy. Prime Minister John Baird offered Canada's support in combating al Shabaab.
