Air Canada and the Canadian Auto Workers reached a tentative agreement for 2,800 ticket agents and sales staff across Canada. The deal ends negotiations begun July 23 and will replace the expired contract for clerks and counter staff. A ratification vote is planned within two weeks with results expected by October 3. Peggy Nash said the pact meets the union objectives.
A U S study led by Dr. Joseph DiFranza at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center Worcester finds smokers have about 50 percent more auto accidents than non-smokers. Distraction from smoking and higher risk taking with alcohol and drugs contribute to poorer driving.
