Geneva September 22 the League of Nations disarmament committee approved a French drafted project to expand arbitration agreements and create a security system among nations while the preparatory disarmament commission works toward a general conference on armament limits. Merchants Ask Government to Reconsider Food Garnishee Rules

Alberta merchants urged Premier Brownlee to modify garnishee regulations raising bylaw relief for small bills and to remove the ten dollar annual restaurant license fee. They argued the present exemption of 75 dollars on debtor bills harms lenders when workers earn little above that amount. They asked for stricter enforcement of regulatory taxes and fairer lending conditions for groceries and meats.

Five Silk Cars Plunge Into Fraser River

A Canadian Pacific silk train derailed near Yale British Columbia as five cars tipped into the Fraser River. Beauval Mission School Fire Claims 20 Lives

A Beauval Saskatchewan fire at the Roman Catholic mission school killed 20 people including 19 children and a sister. Constable Rock and Dr. McCrimmon will travel by canoe 200 miles to Beauval to assist as coroner reports indicate many were trapped in a dormitory. Father Moreau is said to have been burned in the blaze and inquiry continues awaiting word from hospital staff and authorities.
