The Karnival Board of Control will open Armoury Park dance pavilion at 8 pm with a five piece orchestra promising fine music in ideal surroundings. It was decided to operate only for tonight, despite initial plans for two nights, and the Hot Eats pope will offer refreshments for attendees.
In Chauvin Alta four children die from infantile paralysis amid an outbreak that began with a kiss on the mouth of a dead infant. Shirley Drake Ruby McCinsky and Charles Gagron are among the victims. The disease has sickened many other children in Manitou Lake district as residents mourn and seek safety.
Rev Lawrence M Fight of Ina confesses to poisoning his wife Anna Fight and Wilford Sweetin as he cared for them during illness. Authorities exonerate Mrs Sweetin and dismiss gossip linking Fight to her. Fight denies any improper relations, calling Mrs Sweetin the most beautiful woman in Ina.
Cecil Winter, 14, leaped from a police station window in Ottawa on Sept. 22 and fell twenty feet onto rocks. He is reported in critical condition. He had earlier been convicted of theft and housebreaking.
A general meeting of the shareholders in the new Skating Rink will be held this evening in the Council Chamber at the City Hall. All shareholders are urged to attend as canvassing has left a balance of 2000 to 3000 dollars needed to begin construction and have the rink ready for this season. Delayed subscriptions should be reported to the Central Committee before tonight.
