EnCana hearings set for Suffield drilling project

Proceedings on EnCana's bid to drill the first three of over 1,200 shallow gas wells in the Suffield National Wildlife Area begin next month in Calgary. Hearings run Oct 6 to 24 at Govier Hall, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with two informal daytime sessions at Medicine Hat Lodge on Oct 20.

Saskatchewan man charged after Swift Current high speed chase

RCMP say a chase began in Swift Current after midnight, moved onto the Trans-Canada Highway, and officers fired when the truck veered at them. The driver, Miles Luke James, 26, of Herbert, was shot in the chest, underwent surgery, and has been released. He faces assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and two breach of probation counts. a court appearance is set for Monday.
