One year old Joe Williams accidentally left the home phone on hook for 25 hours and called his great grandparents in St Lucia after pressing redial. The bill, over 2000 Canadian dollars, was written off by the telephone company.
Municipal officers in Quebec protested the Sept. 1 raid on Chambly police by provincial forces calling it a fishing expedition. They seek damages and a public inquiry, framing the action as harming the town force and its families. About 160 people were questioned with 30 others charged.
