Liberals win key seat in upset across Quebec
Liberals captured a riding in Quebec with an upset victory over the Progressive Conservatives. Don Jamieson, 44, a broadcaster, and Andrew Chatwood, 34, a mining manager, helped Liberal gains as other Liberal candidates held in Grand Falls-Windsor and White Bay Newfoundland. The Commons tally stood at 181 Liberals among 245 seats with 36 Conservatives and eight Creditistes. A Liberal vacancy remained in Hull after Alexis Caron’s death.
