Evacuation as Beaufort rig derails in severe storm
Dozens of oil workers on the Minuk I-53 artificial island in the Beaufort Sea were evacuated hours before a drilling derrick collapsed in a storm. Winds up to 100 kmh and four metre waves battered the site near Tuktoyaktuk, with 87 workers airlifted without injuries. Esso feared the weather could threaten Arnak K-06 nearby.
