Brother’s overdose death tied to drug house crackdown

Police issue shuts down troubled Aberdeen Street house
Since 2005 police logged 109 calls to 390 Aberdeen St across bylaw to trafficking with a meth overdose on April 27 and a sudden death on June 10 this year. An estimated two to three residents lived there amid constant comings and goings. The residence contributed to roughly 70 percent of city crime in 2015 and 88 percent in 2016 to date. After closure, no further police calls were reported. Community Safety Order fences the property, boards it up, changes locks and forces occupants to vacate 90 days. Alberta law enforcement has closed 53 properties similarly. Alberta overdose deaths numbered 272 in 2015 with nine in the south zone. fentanyl deaths rose from six in 2011 to 29 in 2012, 66 in 2013 and 120 in 2014.
