Hatters raise over ten thousand for Terry Fox Run

More than 150 Hatters joined the 27th Terry Fox Run at Kin Coulee Park raising over $10,000 for cancer research. Cathy Slykhuis, a first timer, recalled meeting Fox in Brantford during his Marathon of Hope and shared memories of his cross country journey and goal of a dollar per Canadian. Fox halted in Thunder Bay on September 1, 1980 after his cancer spread, having traveled 143 days and 5373 kilometres with an amputated leg. The fundraiser supports the Terry Fox Foundation and cancer research efforts worldwide.
