A dealer touts a set of horse drawn farm implements with features such as the only draw-out mower, traction wheels, adjustable bar, no neck weight, rider balance on the tongue, whiffletrees adjustable to horse height, interchangeable master wheels, a single ball bearing for end thrust on bevel gears, wear adjustable gears, and a left-turning flywheel aligning the pitman shaft for a straight push.
Members of Court Mewasin honored Deputy Supreme High Chief Ranger Collins with a banquet after a regular meeting. He has added about fifty names to Court Mewasin’s roll. the event featured a full program, songs, and a closing Auld Lang Syne. Collins also organized a Companions' Court joined by about twenty five ladies.
The School Board met Friday September 1 with members Fleger, AaiRey, Nicolls, Collins, and the secretary-treasurer. They read last meeting minutes, reviewed accounts, accepted resignations of Miss Pearson and J I Bridge, offered Miss Frank a probationary teaching post, planned a janitor hire, and appointed Miss Davidson as assistant principal while Miss Harrison continues at the ward school. The chairman and Collins were authorized to buy supplies, bank them, and build a coal shed.
The Hospital Board seeks ten orders for a two story nurses home designed by architect Chas S Roche. Plans show 44 by 96 feet cut stone with eight foot verandah, first floor hall and rooms, upstairs six chambers, basement with heating plant, and modern facilities. The Woman's Hospital Aid Society has funded this project and supports moving ahead.
A. J. Brabazon reports ready to depart for the Fast after completing extensive surveys for local parties. He mapped 565 lots for Medicine Hat Land and Improvement Co. and 200 for W. Cousins plus 46 for W. Johnston, all near the townsite. He previously helped locate the Alaska Canada boundary and owns a topographic photo of Muir Glacier.
Mr. G. Macpherson and associates from Brantford have bought the Woolen Mills property and will arrive next month to install machinery and prepare for operation of the mills.
Last Friday afternoon the city team played the Thirsty Thugs at Maple Creek for hospital funds. Five innings saw the challengers win 7 to 6 after strong hitting by Chilura and a late surge by the city. M O Hara and J Forbets were the Thugs' battery while Henry and Barker paired for the city.
The fall exhibition is under full preparation with a top prize list for the society. Exhibitors are urged to bring worthy exhibits to represent the district. Stock and exhibits will be accommodated in the rink and rear enclosure. Judges include W H Black of Winnipeg for horses and James Bray of Longburn for cattle sheep and hogs. The exhibit is organized by the Department of Agriculture Regina and overseen by appointed society directors to ensure a successful event.
