Milk price jump approved by utilities board

The Public Utilities Board approves a one cent per litre rise in the minimum price paid to milk producers. The increase raises the minimum retail price for homogenized milk to 85 cents per litre and for two per cent partly skimmed milk to 83 cents, effective today. The change follows a 1976 price formula guiding producer pricing, with dairies and retailers seeking further increases at wholesale and retail levels.
