At last night’s council meeting Ald. Simpson pushed for action after a linked power outage. Insulators along a high tension line were shot, destroying 150 units and threatening mills and linemen. a $235 replacement cost was noted and a reward offered for information.
Lethbridge reports Mrs. Herman Hollander of 1080 Fulton Street San Francisco was killed when the car she rode in overturned near Cardelygy on a Monday afternoon. A flat tire caused the crash. Her husband, also in the car, suffered cuts and bruises. Her neck was broken and she had a fractured skull.
A couple of cars collided on the Dunmore hill last night shortly before eleven. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage but no occupants were seriously injured. one car rolled onto its side.
Lieut Harold Bromley halted a bid to fly the Pacific to Tacoma citing funding issues and uncertain support for a 1981 attempt. Co pilot Harold Gatty doubted success, saying a damaged exhaust pipe halted the 25 hour flight of the City of Tacoma as it crossed toward Japan. Both aviators were found semi conscious from exhaust fumes after the landing near Shitsukari.
Sept 16. in darkness a rough field near The Pas saw Pitot Ken Dewar guide a plane to a hard landing. The impact tore the pantona and loosened the engine from its mountings. Passengers were bound in the wreckage but the pilot freed himself and aided others.
