Roy Acuff the first living CMA Hall of Fame member

Roy Acuff rose as the first living member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1962 and became a defining Opry star. His Smoky Mountain Boys cut The Great Speckle Bird and Wabash Cannonball in 1936, with Wabash Cannonball selling a million copies by 1942. Acuff died November 23, 1992 in Nashville.

Medical clinic redesignation rejected by planning commission

Medicine Hat planners vote against a bylaw amendment to convert a residence at 502 4th Ave. N.W. into a medical clinic adjacent to the regional hospital. The proposal, for Ri single to DC direct control, faced opposition over piecemeal land use and a 2002 survey showing no desire to alter residential character. a redevelopment plan is due in 2006 and the commission will forward its recommendation to city council.

Peers tops Prairie Rose board chair again in acclamation

Marian Peers was re elected by acclamation as board chair for Prairie Rose School Division No 8 at the annual organizational meeting. This will be her fifth year in the role and she has served as trustee for Acadia Valley since 1995. Ryan Herman was acclaimed vice chair for the third year.
