Gas City to shut down most municipal wells amid $100K daily loss
Medicine Hat plans accelerated abandonment of 2000 low production wells over three years to cut costs and start reclamation. The municipal energy division, employing about 100, faced a 36 million cash loss this year as gas prices linger below break even despite prior 171 million in sales when gas hit eight dollars per gigajoule in 2008.
