Inquiry Ordered Into RCMP Use Of Juvenile Informant
Solicitor General Jean-Pierre Goyer told Parliament he has ordered RCMP Commissioner W L Higgitt to investigate charges that RCMP officers forced a juvenile to act as an informer for two years starting in 1968. The case, raised after a television interview, alleges threats and beating if information was not supplied, prompting questions about RCMP policy and integrity. The commissioner's report is expected in about a week and Goyer will comment in the House thereafter.
