Brooks marks turning page a year after XL Foods recall
The Alberta town of Brooks held a large beef barbecue to celebrate a year since the XL Foods recall that shut the plant and disrupted the economy. U.S. border bans and Canadian CFIA recalls followed as 2,200 workers were sent home and 2,000 products pulled nationwide. JBS USA later took over management and XL Foods assets, with 2,400 workers now employed and 3,800 cattle processed daily for Canada and international markets.
