Escapers from Prince Albert Penitentiary Remanded in Kidnapping Case
Two escapees from Prince Albert Penitentiary, Donald Savard and Kenneth Wilson, are due for a simple remand in Medicine Hat provincial court today charged with kidnapping a 68 year old Calgary area woman found in the trunk of her car. Police say she was abducted at knife point from her home and later treated for facial injuries. The men, who escaped last Friday, also face charges of breaking into Westminster United Church.

Firefighter killed in Nanaimo refinery blaze
A volunteer firefighter died and three were injured as a large fire tore through Shell Oil and Standard Oil bulk plants on Vancouver Island.
