Jools Close and Heald pools will close after this season. The Hill pool stays open with hours 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. to 5 30 p.m. plus 6 30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. The Hill pool will remain open while weather allows.

Caouette head of Le Ralliement des Creditistes criticized Alberta Premier Manning after Manning condemned Caouette’s plan to form a separate party. Caouette, in a telephone interview, accused Manning of interference and urged him to mind his own business.
Caouette from St. Sacrement Hospital says Le Ralliement forms after a Quebec City convention repudiates Robert Thompson as Social Credit leader. He claims 11 of 23 MPs support the move with a 12th expected. Manning reportedly funds the national group with 1500 dollars monthly.
In Saigon combat police and troops, aided by Marines, dragged about 300 rock throwing youths from Vo Truong Toan and Trung Vuong schools and other campuses. Most arrested were under 15. some injuries reported but no serious casualties. Schools reopened after a day of unrest with more protests anticipated.
Medicine Hat Chamber of Commerce checks with elevator agents to identify congestion and where extra deliveries can be accommodated if quotas are raised. President Wally Hayne says the board should be more specific in requests and notes quota increases at Walsh and Irvine.
Four Medicine Hat men passed recent accountant exams. R. B. Breakell earned his chartered accountant degree with Miller, Flynn and Tate. The Bureau of Statistics forecasts Canada will harvest about 694 million bushels of wheat this year, near the 1952 record. Saskatchewan and Alberta show near record plantings, boosting Prairie yields and increasing storage costs and surplus risks. If harvest weather holds after Aug 15, total supplies could reach 1.16 billion bushels for the 1963-64 year, with export and storage options growing alongside new sales talks with China, Poland, and others.
Ottawa reports a higher Canadian living costs trend with a 0.4 point rise in the official consumer price index to 133.9 on August 1 from 133.5 on July 1. A federal economist notes special circumstances plus summer food price pressures explaining the jump.
