Mrs. F. W. Arnolds once in command of the Canadian Red Cross Transport section and fourteen other Canadian women who volunteered for the Mechanized Transport Corps have landed in Britain safely. The arrival was announced officially.
A 12 year old runaway from Moose Jaw fled to Medicine Hat aiming for the Pacific coast to become a buccaneer. A Medicine Hat policeman found him wandering coatless and hatless late Thursday night. His father arrived Friday to take the boy home.

Edmonton officials announce a 40 percent reduction in the Alberta motor license fee effective October 1 for the 1941 42 license year. Berlin reports a German communique claiming the U boat was attacked by the US destroyer Greer on Roosevelt order. It says the submarine fired two torpedoes and that the destroyer first attacked in the blockade zone, describing a running battle lasting hours.
