Shelter report shows rise in abuse cases in 1994 Medicine Hat

The Medicine Hat shelter logged 317 clients and children in 1994 up 17 percent from 271 in 1993. Of 1994 cases 21 percent were physically abused 37 percent psychologically abused six percent sexually abused. One woman Jane endured years of abuse until leaving after counseling. She recalls repeated beatings and fear of an unpredictable ex-husband.
