Guidance for preserving garden crops before frost. Harvest first frost-susceptible vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers, store in bran in boxes with careful layering, and keep ripe fruit separate. Store onions, squash, and potatoes in dry spaces. pull onions early and dry. prepare cauliflower, carrots, beets, turnips, and parsnips in dry pits or shelves with proper ventilation.
Two Illinois farmers, McDonald and McIntosh, visiting Western Canada and California, meet Kerriemuir native Engineer Van Lowe owner of J M Barrie Thrums. They recall schooldays from thirty years ago at a Kerriemuir station and share tales of bygone days with the former classmates.

The Fire Department has secured a new parade team of three year old brothers of Tom and Jerry. They were bought from Mr Andrew Gordon for 350 dollars and are expected to make a fine, reliable unit for future duties.
Mr C N Evans possesses many rare prints and newspapers of early dates valued for their rarity. Notable items include a November 27 1852 Illustrated London News supplement with Wellington funeral car illustrations, and thirty pages of life and funeral content. Also The Times December 24 1661 records Prince Consort funeral, plus Sphere issues from 1901 with Victoria state funeral, Exdwend VII accession, and Dutch queen marriage illustrations.

Hon A C Rutherford premiers arrive to take part in laying the corner stone ceremony for the new High School. Pupils from both schools march from Toronto street at 2 15 pm led by the band with speeches by dignitaries including Law Milne and Wirte. Citizens are hoped to attend in large numbers.
The Sunday evening service moves to 7.30 in September from 7 o clock, with anniversary services planned for the end of September or first Sunday in October. Professor Strort, M.A., will lead the occasion, promising a treat for attendees.

A man who boarded at Maple Creek twice attempted suicide by jumping from a moving Seo-Seattle train. After a first jump he returned to Maple Creek, joined the second section, and leaped from the rear as it ran. He was recovered slightly wounded at General Hospital and gave no statement.
Mrs J D Walker of Toronto spoke to Medicine Hat Presbyterian women at St John’s Church last Friday on missions. She led a Mission Band meeting on Saturday and visited mission stations along the Crow’s Nest line on Sunday.
Mr E G Benwell arrived in the city Monday to enter his imported Percheron stallion Chicane and a team of drivers for the Exhibition. He holds entry ticket No 1 and offers to run a hundred mares with the stallion on his Irvine pasture. He owns a 2000 acre field.
Mr James Robinson J.P. of Josephburg district government weed inspector prosecuted in the city on Saturday for infractions of the Noxious Weeds Act. Fines were imposed in all three cases.
