Medicine Hat Police are investigating an alleged robbery after a 42 year old male reported being assaulted and robbed at Riverside Park around 9 p.m. on October 22. He was taken to hospital and released without treatment. He could only describe three male suspects. investigation ongoing.
Medicine Hat city council will hold its 2005/06 organizational meeting on Wednesday at 6 30 p m. Members will be appointed to standing and special committees and to other bodies. A vice chair and three MPC staff appointments are planned with proposed meeting dates to be discussed.
Redcliff RCMP responded to a man in personal crisis reported on October 22 carrying a firearm. RCMP contained the suspect until Calgary Emergency Response Team arrived and arrested him without incident. Several non registered firearms were seized. Const. Cindy Kovalak noted the call was a rare use of the emergency response team.
Alberta teachers and administrators led by Crescent Valley principal Stephen Angle sue Dawna and Ken McGowan and others for defamation amid claims their son’s toilet incident was misrepresented. The case also targets Robyn Reid and Denis Lapierre in separate actions. A class-action against the Alberta government addresses abuse victims denied legal aid.
Halifax reported hurricane Wilma moving up the Atlantic coast may lash the Maritimes with gale force winds surf and rain starting today. By the time it reaches Canada's East Coast it could weaken to an extra tropical storm though gusts near 120 km h could still occur along Nova Scotia's Atlantic shoreline.
Gilles Gionet aged 41 from Oshawa has been identified as the victim of a weekend fatal single vehicle crash in northern New Brunswick. The Ontario man was alone when the vehicle left the road on a curve and rolled over. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.
Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin shows improved vision in his injured left eye and will not need surgery. A Toronto doctor issued the positive prognosis after examining Sundin, who was hurt in the season opener on Oct 5 when struck by a puck, fracturing his left orbital bone. Re-evaluation is planned for early next week with no timetable yet for his return.
