Ottawa reports compulsory arbitration will settle the railway wage dispute after government directed talks stalled. Negotiations have not resumed before the Saturday expiry of the government set negotiation period. The arbitrator would be jointly chosen or appointed by the government if needed.
The Canadian Press reports thirty two deaths during the Thanksgiving long weekend due to traffic accidents across Canada. Ontario logged twelve deaths, Quebec ten, New Brunswick three, Nova Scotia two, Manitoba one, and British Columbia four. Weather included high winds and rain in parts of Ontario and Nova Scotia with storm warnings on Lake Ontario and Lake Erie.
Debrett's Peerage officials appealed for help locating Harry Edward Plunkett, a possible 102 year old heir to an Irish title created by Henry VIII. If unavailable, succession to the lordship could be delayed after the 15th Lord Louth's death and Otway Plunkett's succession, leaving Warry Plunkett next in line.

South Korean troops captured Wonsan on the east coast after a day and night battle, with harbor and airport facilities largely intact at about half capacity. US forces stalled near Kaesong as North Korean defenses delayed the advance toward Pyongyang. Air strikes targeted red strongpoints while allied units pushed to secure the airfield south of the city.
French troops back from Caobang fight to break through Viet Minh lines near Thatkhe on the Chinese frontier. Five days of battle leave units low on ammo as weather grounds planes, with a 15 mile stretch of highway still contested.
