Suffield elk herd grows and spreads damage across farms
Farmers and ranchers in Suffield fear elk numbers will rise despite hunting. Officials say 132 elk were released in 1997, 90 more in 1998, and the herd neared 6,000 before this year’s births, with estimates predicting 10,000 by 2015. Local landowners say crops and fences suffer each season.

Harper pushes airstrike plan for Iraq and Syria
