Bloc Gains Seat In Champlain Contest Over Liberals

In Champlain Quebec the Bloc Quebecois gained a seat as Marcel Gagnon 20 434 votes edged Liberal Julie Boulet 20 427 after a late vote tally review. Boulet had earlier claimed victory by 57 votes triggering an automatic recount and adjusting regional tallies. The result leaves the Bloc with 38 seats and the Liberals with 172.

Half the brain enough men listen says study

A study of 40 adults finds men use mainly the left brain when listening while women use both hemispheres. The researchers caution this does not prove women listen better and suggest women may work harder mentally to listen. Dr. Joseph Lurito notes women may be more taxed by multi task listening.

Former transit workers drop suit against Medicine Hat

Alberta Tories push revised child prostitution act into law

Edmonton Premier Ralph Klein’s government fast tracked a revised Protection of Children Involved in Prostitution Act, allowing detention of child prostitutes in safe houses for up to seven weeks with written notice and legal aid rights. Detention can extend five days initially, then two 21 day extensions.
