Hatters honor veterans with Remembrance Day ceremonies

Citizens from all walks of life gathered Friday morning in Medicine Hat to mark Remembrance Day. The event started at the Esplanade with poems songs and prayers before a parade to Riverside Veterans Memorial Park where prayers speeches and a two minute silence followed. Wreaths were laid at the cenotaph by community members business leaders and officials. Legion member Jim Ogston who has led the ceremonies for 11 years spoke of the personal significance while Trooper Tristen Conrad reflected on sacrifices made by servicemen and women.

Remembrance Day Touches Canadians From Coast to Coast

Canadians paused Friday to honor those who served and sacrificed, as a Halifax veteran in Ottawa recalled a fallen comrade. A young woman approached Darrel MacDonald, in a wheelchair from a 1998 injury, thanked him and blessed him before vanishing into the crowd.
