A Maple Creek youth, 17, was struck and pronounced dead at the scene by a westbound freight train on the CP Rail line. RCMP, ambulance, and fire responders attended early Sunday. Police continue to investigate. the name is being held pending next of kin notification.
A Leger Marketing poll shows 83.5 percent of Canadians favor stricter immigration rules. While 46.1 percent see border measures as a good balance, 42.5 percent feel security is not strong enough and 4.5 percent say they go too far. The survey of 1,524 people was conducted Oct 16–21.

A 40 year old Hat man was killed when a vehicle driven by Kelvin Lorence Anakaer 42 Medicine Hat was charged with second degree murder. Witnesses described a 1985 Ford Escort station wagon seen near the scene. Anakaer will appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court Thursday.

Dana Cooper said the goal was 375,000 and funds will also back fall and winter campaigns and future cardiac monitoring upgrades. Proceeds fund equipment such as a wheelchair and commodes and bolster patient care with no administration costs.
