Winnipeg Nov 4 The convention of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy urged anti dumping legislation on foreign coal and a coal rate subsidy if no freight reduction alternative exists. It called for withdrawal from entry and pooling of crown coal lands under a commission to curb wasteful mine openings.
Toronto reports Miss Agnes Macphail the sole woman MP from the new Commons accuses voters of being fooled by corrupt money. She says economic conditions influenced the election and declares she is free from any party, a United Farmer member, with no tariff hike plans and strong local support.
The Roth No.1 well reported this morning that the ten diner hole reached a depth of 1905 feet.
Twenty six passengers aboard the Cunarder Berengaria arriving in Southampton from New York were injured in a fierce Atlantic passage. Damage to furniture and crockery tops £2600. An English passenger suffered a fractured arm and rib and a severe leg wound. Passengers praised Capt. Irving and the crew for preventing panic.
Nanaimo British Columbia November 4 Ross C Watson a former Seattle police officer was acquitted by the asaize court jury of complicity in the December 12 robbery of the Royal Bank here. The jury deliberated about an hour and a half before returning a not guilty verdict. Four men are serving eight years and twenty lashes each for the holdup. another, William Bagley, awaits trial on the same charge.
L H Jelliff member elect for the Lethbridge constituency told The Herald in Leghbridge that definite cooperation between low tariff forces in Canada is necessary. He urged Mr King to carry on with the Progressives ready to cooperate and stressed the West deserves another strong western on the Railway Commission. He had just returned from Calgary after meetings with Progressive leaders.
David M. Gilmour and John Holliday, shot during the Me dita tragedy at Antwerp on October 21, are recovering in hospital. Thomas Towers, former first officer, faces three charges and will appear before Southampton magistrates.

Berlin reports a Syrian colony filed a protest with the League of Nations accusing France and the League of Nations of barbarism and human slaughter in Syria. The protest argues the League conferred an unnecessary and unjust mandate on France.
Wellington reports the Government secured a sweeping victory in the general election. At midnight the tally shows Government 58 seats, Labor 18, Nationalists 10, and Independents 2. Miss Melville Gray Lymn elected as the first woman member of Parliament.
The Canadian Institute of Mines and Metallurgy reports discovery of a premier lithia ore field at Point du Bois north of Winnipeg. Ob. Bo Evans, a 16 year prospector, cherishes the find now developed by British capital. Some 10 400 tons worth about 1 000 000 have been revealed by strip mining with six tons shipped to England. A factory to extract ore and other products is planned for next summer.
Dr J Allan professor of geology declares Alberta drilling has yielded phenomenal results and prompts rapid development. Dr Campbell notes Canada’s mineral trade deficit shrank in 1924 but owes to raw exports, expects future growth as global demand rises. Alberta petroleum prospects cover 86k square miles with 235k total area. Royalite No.4 Turner Valley yields about 590 barrels daily.

Premier King awaits full returns before announcing official action, while opposition leader Meighen holds until King acts. Various regional results show Liberals fluctuating with Conservatives in tight races across Nipissing and Bonavista.
Two armed men robbed Warren Wallhour a messenger for Vandergriff Savings and Trust Community at about noon. They seized a satchel containing about 75000 and fled, police report.

Prices fell across wheat futures with November at 134 18, December 134 44, and May 134 50. Trade volume remained fair but public speculative buying was sparse. Weather in the prairies was mostly sold and clear, dulling demand for cash wheat and lending to declines in coarse grains and flax.
