Ottawa reports suggest the King government favors calling Parliament once final election returns are in. Cabinet met to discuss the issue with ministers proceeding cautiously until the formal pronouncement. A decision to convene Parliament appears likely, with timing to depend on completed vote tallies.
A preliminary meeting of Cottage chairmen from the Western General Chairmen's association outlines wage increase demands for several million workers. The Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen with 130,000 members on 200 class one roads contemplates a wage rise, with similar demands expected from other service brotherhoods. If unified, the drive could affect about 2,000,000 men, following wartime wage cuts and pending contract expirations from December to June.
Rezina November 8. Mrs W B Sloan returns home to find smoke pouring from a kitchen window where her two children Margaret and John Sloan aged two and four are unconscious on the floor. Neighbors help carry them out but both children die within minutes. An overheated stove is believed to have caused the blaze. No inquest will be held.
Winnipeg reports wheat inspections yesterday reached 1594 cars, including 2112 of contract grades, versus 1569 cars a year earlier. Coarse grains counted 270 cars, down from 560 last year.
November wheat futures rose 21 to 2 1 2 cents with November at 1 87 1 4. Market carried a stubborn undertone amid limited offerings and light trade for other grains. Export news from New York suggested Manitoba shipments nearing 1,250,000 bushels overnight.
J L Peacock of Portland sold the RON Thompson wheat ranch near Washington to J H Lohreng for cash. The 2500 acre property reportedly drew $40 per acre in Adams County. Greenwaldt Brothers previously operated the ranch.
New York Nov 8 Decuiritys affidavit replies to his wife’s suit for absolute divorce claiming she was extravagant and that he has too many sons-in-law to support. Herbert Newkamp a retired chemical manufacturer says he is willing to be divorced if his wife can show misconduct.
Rotary Club hears talk by C. P. R. ticket agent Eric Schmid on early steam travel and modern sleeping car service. He cites the first steam passenger ticket sold in Darlington in 1824 and outlines sleep car logistics while Rotary welcomes visiting Rotarians from Winnipeg and Calgary. The club supports Kiwanis and Operatic Society events and promotes forthcoming Rotary Carnival, Queen Contest, and Swift Current trips.

Penny Bank organizer Hamilton Cassels of Toronto died Monday at age 70. Born in Quebec in 1854, he led the firm Cassels Brock & Wey, headed legal affairs for the organization, and served as director of the North America Life Assurance and of the Toronto General Trust Corporation. He also presided over the York Law Association and helped found St. Andrew's College.
The city schedules municipal elections for Monday December 14 with nomination day on December T. A bye law is to be reviewed by the council after being left in committee. Returning Officer Blackburn will seek more convenient polling stations for river voters and those who voted at Toronto street school. The old voting system will be retained.
