Spanish trawler captains ordered to surrender passports

Two Spanish trawler captains Jesus Insula Romero and Salvador Omil Soto facing illegal fishing charges were ordered to hand over their passports and remain on Newfoundland Avalon Peninsula. They must report to fisheries officials twice weekly amid charges of unauthorized entry to Canadian waters unlicensed fishing and obstruction. If convicted Romero could face 175000 dollars Soto 150000.

In Regina on January 22 1983 Colin Thatcher entered the Kohli home to see his daughter Stephanie accompanied by a lawyer and two men after a heated confrontation with Susan Kohli and David Kohli The ensuing clash followed the murder of JoAnn Wilson Thatcher was later convicted of the murder and sentenced to at least 25 years Merchant pleaded guilty to mischief and received an absolute discharge ending the blocked testimony and implicating the 1984 preliminary hearing into abduction and mischief charges.
