A fiery blast at Texas City Refining Inc triggered a chain of 10 explosions and two large fuel tank ruptures. At least 11 people injured, two unaccounted, with about 100 families evacuated. Marathon Oil Refinery also reported fires as crews fought to prevent further blasts.

Ottawa reports Switzerland has purchased 15 obsolete Centurion tanks from Canada for an undisclosed sum. The Crown Assets Disposal Corp. says Switzerland must sign an end usage certificate limiting use to self defense and prohibiting resale without BCAD’s permission. Canada plans to replace Centurions with Leopard tanks from West Germany.
