The Quints gain a share of a million dollar fortune following the death of Emilie ten months ago. Emilie, once a child movie star and co-endorser, was barred from spending earnings as a minor, alongside her sisters.
Seven year old Billy Holdsworth of Ralston captured the U C T Southern Alberta marble derby over rivals Jimmy Haywood and others in a tense round robin and playoff at the Ralston recreation centre. Billy claimed the United Commercial Travellers trophy and 25 dollars, with 70 students starting the event from Ralston and Suffield.
Reports to a Sunday party meeting indicate the Progressive Conservative party will field at least 40 candidates for the June 29 provincial general election in Alberta where 61 seats exist. W. J. C. Kirby was named official spokesman. 19 candidates have already been nominated.

An 11 year old boy in Calgary climbed a high fence at the city pound and opened a dog cage. Thirty dogs bolted. 25 were recaptured by other youths before detectives took the boy home after a lecture. Five dogs remained hunted by the dog catcher, including the boy's own pet unknown.
Harold Clyde Purchase 41, prominent Medicine Hat businessman and Woolworths manager, died in General Hospital after a stroke. Survived by widow Freda. two children Lorne and Linda. mother Mrs. C H Purchase. four sisters in Edmonton Calgary. Active civic leader and former Rotary Club president.
Indianapolis AP reports Bill Vukovich died in a five car crash during the Memorial Day 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He led 44 of 50 laps before colliding in a backstretch pileup after Ed Elisian hit the wall. Bob Sweikert won the race.
London reports show 70 000 locomotive engineers and firemen on strike defying Prime Minister Eden as mail is moved by soldiers. Rail service near standstill with ghostly stations and disrupted deliveries, while Monckton returns to London and Eden seeks a pause.
Memorial Day weekend tolls rise as 259 die on highways by Sunday, with 87 drowned and 38 killed in other accidents. The National Safety Council warned the holiday traffic toll is tragically high and ahead of last year’s pace, while AP data recorded a total of 384 deaths so far.
