Two Die In Blast At Oil Field Station
In Saskatchewan a tank cleaning accident at a Mobil Oil of Canada battery north west of Swift Current killed two men, 20 year old Orville Meyer of Medicine Hat and 28 year old Raymond Schwarts of Swift Current. A coroner’s jury investigated but could not determine the cause of the explosion. Both men were married.

Thief Gets Six Years For Bank Robbery At Alix
Lawrence Carroll, 27, was sentenced to six years after pleading guilty to the armed robbery of a Royal Bank of Canada branch in Alix. He herded manager C. A. Thorp and two female tellers at knife point into the vault and stole 3,888 dollars. A tracking dog found Carroll near Alix after an abandoned car with a flat tire was located. Carroll had been released from prison earlier this month and was being watched when the robbery occurred. Alix lies 85 miles southeast of Edmonton.
