Calgary Stampeders announce defensive back Terry Wilson and defensive tackle Fred James have signed 1971 contracts. Wilson, 30, 200 pounds, starts his eighth CFL season and fifth with Calgary after a trade from Edmonton. He led Calgary with seven interceptions for 66 yards last season. James, 26, from the University of Alberta, earned regular play last year after Granville Liggins’ injury.

Royal Hotel defeated Silverwoods 8-1 in game one as Richard Zachary earned the win with six strikeouts. Renbar blanked Redcliff 5-0 behind Joe Giesinger’s three strikeouts. Alberta Western Beef crushed Moose Larks 17-6 with three homers by Gary Diebert and two by Mac Wynn.
