Fatal South Flats fire leaves one dead in Medicine Hat

Investigators say the cause of the deadly May 23 fire on the 1100 Block of Steel Street will take time to determine. A single resident died in the blaze and the body was sent to Calgary for autopsy. Neighbours say a son and his older mother rented the home. The Major Crimes Unit and fire crews coordinated until the fire was controlled in about 30 minutes.
