Const. Herman A. Tingley of Medicine Hat celebrates 29 years on the force. Born in Upper Point DeBute New Brunswick he came to the Hat in 1923 after four years at a steam laundry. He now works at the station desk and cites road blocks and small city size as reasons why the Hat has no bank holdups. He notes policing requires courtesy good judgment and guts. He has five daughters four married and two living in the Hat. His son David attends high school and another son Raymond died in the war.
