Conservative finance critic Sinclair Stevens withdrew unverified allegations that nine Liberal MPs profited from Canada's dollar fluctuations. He blamed a CP report and reporter Vic Parsons for context issues, while Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and Jack Horner faced Stevens' targeted accusations. Speaker Jerome ruled the matter closed though political fallout remains uncertain.
Former Vietnam combat pilot Allen Barklage wrestled a pistol from Barbara Oswald and fatally shot her as his helicopter spiraled 600 feet above the Marion Illinois penitentiary. Oswald had ordered landing in the exercise yard to free three convicts during the planned hijacking. The craft veered off course from St Louis en route to Cape Girardeau Missouri when the confrontation occurred.

Jacks learned the impostor, who claimed to be 28 from England, phoned to end the charade and Jacks will no longer chase him. Jacks values the outage as the impostor’s betrayal by his bandmates and says Seasons in the Sun royalties fund his West Vancouver home and ranch life.
