Ottawa dispatch reports Prime Minister Louis St Laurent told the House Canada has no law naming a national anthem and he would not push legislation. He noted God Save the Queen is not enshrined by statute, while many Canadians favor O Canada, which is often played to honor Canada abroad and at home.
In Ottawa, CCF member Stanley Knowles urges barring cabinet ministers from directorships while in office, accusing Prime Minister St Laurent of complicity in McCann’s continued directorship at Guaranty Trust Co. South Alberta Pipe Lines Ltd filed to build an 8 inch natural gas pipeline from the Etzikom field to Medicine Hat to supply a new multi million dollar chemical fertilizer plant. The plan includes gathering lines and a main control station at Etzikom with a 50 mile route north to Medicine Hat. Construction cost around one million dollars with the plant costing 22 to 25 million and operation set for next year employing about 250 permanent staff and 1000 during peak construction.
Lethbridge City Police Chief Constable George Harvey said a warrant is issued for 18 year old Charles Fazakereley on charges of stealing $30 000 from the Bank of Montreal. Fazakereley, with the bank two years, allegedly stole the money Friday after a long holiday weekend. Police review Coutts customs for possible passage to the United States.
Former Social Credit MLA candidates John C Landeryou and Roy Lee filed a statement of defence in a Calgary court over an alleged government rental contract. The action seeks a 200 a day penalty for days in the legislature while the contract was alleged. They deny a legal contract existed or, if it did, argue they as directors of a company were not ineligible under the Legislative Assembly Act. They ask for dismissal with costs and note both resigned. Landeryou seeks nomination in Lethbridge and Lee seeks Taher nomination for the party.

A Pacific weather disturbance is expected to move into Northwestern Alberta Wednesday morning and reach Southwestern Saskatchewan by midnight. The system will bring showers and gusty winds across the area.

Liberals announce three nominees Alan Cullen Mrs A G Virtue and Robert Peacock. Medicine Hat sees Social Credit and Liberal nominations. CCF to field a candidate soon. Mrs E G Robinson aims to stand again. In Liberal ranks Harry Weiner is supported along with several others including Mrs Ethel Currie Ald Lloyd Craig and G Grant.
Calgary Liberals adopt slogan for June provincial election. The convention also approves committees to finalize party organization and set up an advisory group led by R. H. Barron to study 14 provincial portfolios and provide candidates with department information.
