Rescue of 33 Men From Sunken Submarine Squalus
Portsmouth May 25 A P The United States navy completed the epic rescue of 33 men trapped since Tuesday on the ocean floor aboard the submarine Squalus. The last eight men were brought to the surface at 10 50 8 P M after a perilous four hour dive. All survivors were hauled from the bell as Navy high command ordered sea to yield the dead. Lieutenant O I Naquin of Alexandria La was last to leave the ill fated ship.
