Medicine Hat Couple Die In Head-On Crash
Arnold Lee Bud Schmidt aged 48 and his wife Auli 39 were killed in a Friday head-on collision on Holsom Road two miles west of Medicine Hat airport. Pauline Both sustained multiple lacerations and arm fractures and remained hospitalized. The Schmidt family includes three children. Arnold Schmidt grew up in southwest Saskatchewan, studied at Prairie Bible Institute, and served in Pakistan with World Mission Prayer League. Auli Schmidt, born in Finland, trained as a nurse and served with the Finnish Mission Society in Pakistan.

Calgary officers shot in downtown incident
Calgary police say two constables were hospitalized after an early morning shooting in a downtown alley near a restaurant. A 22 year old suspect was also wounded and in hospital. The officers confronted a robbery suspect described as wanted for crimes in Calgary and Edmonton. he allegedly opened fire prompting return fire. Two other men were being sought as charges are not yet filed.
