In Medicine Hat the Liberal candidate Wiedemann briefly led but 60 year old Harry Leinweber captured the riding with 1630 votes, defeating Progressive Conservative Jim Horsman and Liberal Wiedemann. Voters approved daylight saving time by 5663 to 4941 votes. Leinweber's third term comes as Alberta’s provincial election ends with 67.82 percent turnout.
